This page covers Therapy Terms and Conditions, Online video & class disclaimer and Privacy Policy

Therapy Terms and Conditions

This is a mutual agreement negotiated between Emily Andrew (the therapist) and you (the client) prior to the commencement of our sessions. It highlights my responsibilities as the practitioner towards you, as well as the responsibilities within the therapeutic relationship.

Initial Consultation and Assessment

During our first session, we will have an in-depth consultation where you will have the opportunity to explore your present challenges and go through an initial assessment.

After you have booked, you will receive an email with a short online questionnaire which should take 5 minutes. Please take some time to fill this in before our first session.

Confidentiality Agreement

Any information disclosed by the client during sessions is considered confidential. This includes personal details, thoughts, feelings, and any specific information shared in the therapeutic environment. However, there are exceptional cases where, under certain regulations, Emily Andrew might ethically or legally have to give information to relevant authorities, for example:

  • Where legally compelled to do so.
  • Where there is reason to believe that someone, especially a child, is at risk of harm.
  • Issues which concern harm to self or others.
  • Where there is a duty to the public to disclose.
  • Where disclosure is permitted by law and required to protect the service provider's interest.
  • Where disclosure is made at your request or with consent.
  • You agree to share information relating to your case with clinicians involved in your care for the purposes of managing your clinical pathway.
  • To contact your GP about your condition and treatment if she thinks it would be of benefit to you to do so.

Informed Consent

By agreeing to these terms and conditions and participating in sessions, you are providing informed consent to participate in therapy.

Emergency Situations

In case of an emergency, please contact emergency services or go to the nearest hospital. For urgent support outside of working hours, mark your email as urgent and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Data Protection and Privacy

Your data will be stored and handled in compliance with relevant data protection laws. For more details, please refer to my privacy policy.

Technology and Communication

Communication and therapy sessions may be conducted via digital platforms. While I take measures to ensure confidentiality, please be aware of potential risks associated with electronic communication.

Supervision and Professional Development

As an integrative therapist, I receive regular supervision and undertake continued professional development to ensure the highest standards of ethics and efficacy for my clients. I abide by the code of ethics of the GHR* and EFT International** which you can read on their websites.

Working Hours

My standard working hours are Wednesdays - Fridays (8:30 am - 5:00 pm). These are subject to change. Emails are monitored, but outside of the above hours, you may get a delayed response. If you need urgent support, please mark your email as urgent and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Clients on packages are able to contact in between sessions using the Voxer app (https://web.voxer.com/u/emjandrew) to access additional support until sessions end. The best efforts will be made to respond promptly, but cannot be guaranteed and may be slower in the evenings and on weekends. This service isn't available for ad-hoc or single session clients unless otherwise agreed.

After a series of sessions have ended, you are able to arrange check-ins at 1 month, 3 month, and 6 month intervals. This can be discussed in the final session, and you can choose to respond to check-in emails or not. Any unanswered check-ins will assume that this service is no longer needed, but the option to email Emily at any time will still remain.

Client Satisfaction

The client undertakes sessions on the understanding that it is a collaborative process in which success cannot be guaranteed; progress depends in part upon the motivation and participation of the client. If at any point you have feedback on how sessions could be altered to better suit your needs or if you are dissatisfied with the service, I encourage clients to discuss this in session to ensure you are getting the most out of your time. Due to the nature of the service, refunds for sessions undertaken cannot be issued.

Scope of Practice and Referrals

Emily Andrew is a certified therapist (for full details please follow: https://www.wearemindbody.co.uk/about) that can support sub-clinical eating disorders, addictions, and mental health conditions including but not limited to depression, anxiety, phobias, stress, pain, and illness. Emily Andrew is not able to diagnose clients, and anything said in sessions is not intended to replace any medical advice previously given. If you are looking to work on an eating disorder, it may be required to be additionally supported by a qualified dietician, nurse, or GP in order to support you at a high level and work ethically. Due to being a private therapist, it is not possible to provide support to those who are at a very low weight, need meal support, extensive observations, or require hospitalization.

If at any point a referral to another practitioner, therapist, or medical professional needs to be made, this will be discussed with you. Emily Andrew accepts no responsibility for the services provided by any external practitioners to whom you are referred. It is recommended that you thoroughly research and consider the qualifications and suitability of any referred practitioner before commencing treatment with them. The decision to follow up on any referral rests solely with you, the client, and Emily Andrew cannot be held liable for any outcomes resulting from such referrals.

Termination of Therapy

Either party may terminate the therapeutic relationship. If you wish to terminate therapy, please provide notice. I will ensure a smooth transition and provide referrals if necessary.

Payment of Fees and Cancellation Policy

Fees are payable at least 72 hours before each session by BACS or as part of the online booking process.

BACS Details: Emily Andrew 20556872 60-83-71 (Starling Bank)

If you decide to end the block of sessions early and you have paid in full, you are entitled to a refund of your remaining sessions outside of the cancellation policy.
